Fashion & Friends: Rydel Lynch

When you say the name ‘Rydel Lynch’ a lot words come to mind. A few I’ve seen used are: fashionable, sweet, fun, bubbly, and tall- all of which were proven true during my sit down (or rather stand in front of a tour bus) interview with Rydel.   From the second she stepped out she was smiling and laughing, making a B-line for where we were setting up the camera and sound equipment.  She was wearing a distressed black tee dress and Jeffrey Campbell heels, a touch of bling came from the choker around her neck; completely rocker chick with a touch of girly.  

You have a lot of cute outfits but do you ever see anything from your brothers that you’re like ‘oh I wish I could steal that from them’ [Rydel Is the only girl in her group]?

"Um, well actually, yeah. Funny enough my mom [her stylist] will have me try on stuff sometimes, and then I’ll be like ‘Ah I love this so much!’ and she’s like’Okay’  and I’m like ‘ you’re going to give it to Ross huh?’ and she’s like ‘yeah’ and so she gives Ross my shirt sometimes or sometimes Ross wears a shirt or Rocky and I’m like ‘ugh that’s so cool’ and I’ll steal it after they wear it or something."

If you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life, and you have to pick from something you’ve already worn, what would It be?

"Something I’ve already worn? Um, well it’d have to be comfy if I’m gonna wear it for the rest of my life. [Rydel Laughed] I don’t know, probably uh, whatever outfit I wore with like jeans and tee shirt with and like my tie up boots because those are pretty comfy."

Did you teach yourself to play keyboard? And if you did was it really hard to learn or was it pretty easy?

"I taught myself at the beginning, um, so what happened is I took piano with Riker when I was like five, and then when I picked it back up when I was about…15/16 I kinda just googled and youtubed a bunch of stuff and kinda  learned my scales, learned chords and stuff and then um… I wasn’t taking it very seriously for a while, I was kinda like ‘I’m in a band with my brothers, like no big deal’ but uh…then I really go into it and I went to lessons…I went to a few lessons to make sure I was doing everything technically correct. Um and now I’m with a guy too that’s like really cool and teaching me stuff that I wouldn’t  be able to find on youtube and stuff like that."

Now is there a favorite song you have to play?

"Um, right now I’m working on um Ray Charles ‘What I’d say’.  It’s a [Rydel demonstrates with air keyboard]  It’s really cool, it’s really fast but uh Ellington and I jam on that and it’s, it’s cool."

We heard you turned 21 recently, and that your brothers are really protective, has that loosened up a little bit or is it like worse now?

" [Laughs] Uhhhhh…I don’t know I think it’s the same, I guess.  They don’t have to worry about me too much, I’m always glued to all their hips so I’m never alone anyways.  I don’t let them, anyone, leave me alone cuz that’s scary for a girl but yeah, I guess it’s relatively the same."
